Welcome to Little Bird Styling
A Personal Stylist is like any other person you hire. Each one is different and will work in their own way so it's important you do your research, ask questions and connect with them.
It's always recommended to have an idea of who you are looking for and what you want your outcomes to be.
Try to chat over the phone or even live chat if you can. You'll be able to pick up on their vibe and you'll really see if what they have put on paper comes across in person.
Obviously you want to have the best experience possible and you want value for money so take you time to find your perfect stylist by following some of these simple steps...
This may not matter to you and it's not essential for Personal Stylists to have an industry qualification so just keep this in mind.
If a Personal Stylist hasn't received a formal qualification they may have great on the job learning and experience. See if you can find out what lead them into Personal Styling and the training they have done.
Depending on what you are after, life experience can be an advantage. As you know, if you can relate to somebody who has followed a similar path, you'll be able to connect with them and receive advice that is going to be suitable for your lifestyle.
Not all Personal Stylists work in all areas of styling. It's worth while checking out if they have a desired area they focus their work on or even a particular area of expertise i.e. editorial, catwalk, media & television, men's fashion, corporate wear or everyday individuals.
If you are a single mum with two kids, struggling to find work wear, a stylist who works in editorial or media might not be the ideal person. Similarly if you are in your 20's looking for high end style for photo shoots, you aren't probably going to employ a stylist who works in corporate wear.
Price point can often determine if you are going to hire a personal stylist.
Often the services will be very similar however there maybe some extra bonuses thrown in or some packages that are better than others. You need to determine who has the right service for you and which you connect with the most.
Side note: You also need to consider your budget if you are going to go shopping too.
